Sam began her nursing career in 2009, spending 10 years in critical care before following her passion for women’s health. After six years in Labor & Delivery, she earned her Master’s degree from East Carolina University and became a Certified Nurse-Midwife. Sam will be joining Triangle Physicians for Women in April 2026 and will provide full-scope midwifery care, including gynecologic services, prenatal care, labor and birth, and postpartum support.
Sam’s approach is grounded in trauma-informed, patient-centered care. She is especially passionate about supporting individuals who have experienced trauma and creating an environment where every patient feels safe, respected, and heard. Understanding that pregnancy, birth, and pelvic care can be deeply personal and sometimes vulnerable experiences, she prioritizes consent, clear communication, and emotional safety. She works at each patient’s pace and strives to create a space where patients feel supported, empowered, and in control of their care.
She believes in shared decision-making and provides evidence-based education to help patients make choices that align with their values and goals. Sam’s clinical interests include physiologic birth, low-intervention approaches to labor and birth, VBAC, and patient-centered care. She is dedicated to supporting each patient’s goals and the type of birth that best meets their needs. She collaborates closely with the healthcare team to ensure care that is both compassionate and safe.
Sam has called North Carolina home since 2000. Outside of work, she enjoys traveling and scuba diving with her husband, spending time with her two adult children, and exploring the state. In her free time, she can usually be found lost in a fantasy novel or exploring new worlds through epic fantasy television and movies. She is also an animal lover whose family has adopted and rehabilitated several rescue cats.
