Your first visit will include a Confirmation Ultrasound where you will meet with our Ultrasound Technician for pregnancy confirmation and dating. This portion of the visit will be billed as a as a gynecologic visit, which is standard of care for OB practices.
Another part of your first visit will include a meeting with our OB Coordinator to review what to expect during your upcoming prenatal visits. This meeting as well as the visit with the provider will be your First OB Visit in a series of approximately 11-13 routine office visits. The fee for the 11-13 OB Visits and delivery is covered under a Global Maternity Billing Package that includes the OB Visits mentioned above as well as delivery for a single child and one subsequent postpartum office visit. This Global OB Fee does not include the hospital/facility charges relating to Wake Med Cary hospital visit(s) throughout your pregnancy. Any charges incurred at Wake Med Cary Hospital will be billed separately by Wake Med Cary Hospital.
Throughout your pregnancy, you may need certain services that are not included in the Global Maternity Billing Package mentioned above. Our OB Financial Coordinator will provide details on the services that fall outside the Global OB Fee.
Patients with Commercial Insurance
We perform a benefit check for patients covered under in-network insurance and provide you with information on your anticipated portion of the OB Global Fee. We will finalize the OB Patient Agreement within two weeks after your First OB Visit. If you are not able to pay your anticipated portion in full at the time of signing the OB Patient Agreement, we will be happy to set you up with a payment plan. The payment plan must be paid in full by your 24th week of pregnancy. Failure to pay timely will result in the termination of your OB care from our practice. Click HERE for more information on insurance at TP4W.
Self-Pay Patients
Patients who do not have commercial insurance or are covered by out of network insurance will be responsible for the total Global OB Fee. Arrangements for a self-pay courtesy discount can be made by contacting our OB Financial Coordinator. Our office policy is to finalize the OB Patient Agreement by your second OB appt. If you are not able to pay in full at the time of signing the OB Patient Agreement, we will be happy to set you up with a payment plan that will be drafted monthly from the credit card you have set up for our credit card on file policy. The final payment of this plan is due by your 24th week of pregnancy. Failure to pay timely will result in termination of care from our practice.
Patient Billing Questions
Due to the confidential nature of your health, we ask that all billing questions initiate in the Patient Portal. Asking your question(s) in the portal will allow us to have a record of the question as well as the answer provided by our staff. The link to the portal is HERE, and you will find a link to our billing staff in the Messages prompt at the top of the screen. It is our goal to respond to all portal billing questions within 1 business day.
