Dr. Lisa Grana
Kerri R. Scherer MD, FACOG is a board-certified OB/GYN dedicated to delivering exceptional care to women across all stages of life—from adolescence to pregnancy and menopause. With a reputation for clinical excellence, thoughtful communication, and genuine partnership with her patients, she creates a supportive environment where women feel heard, informed, and confident in their care.
Dr. Scherer’s distinguished academic journey reflects a lifelong commitment to excellence. Born in Germany while her father was in the military, she attended high school in Brussels before graduating with honors in biology from Duke University. She earned her medical degree at Wake Forest University School of Medicine, finishing first in her class, and remained at Wake Forest for OB/GYN residency. During training, she received multiple awards for clinical excellence, teaching, and leadership, including Wake Forest Resident of the Year.
Prior to moving to Cary, Dr. Scherer maintained a successful private practice for over 20 years in Winston-Salem while serving as a clinical professor in the Wake Forest Department of OB/GYN where she has enjoyed teaching and mentoring future physicians. She has been selected multiple times in recent years as the “Best OB/GYN in Winston-Salem”, a testament to the high-quality, compassionate care she consistently provides.
Dr. Scherer has special interests in pediatric and adolescent gynecology, infertility, menopause management, minimally invasive surgery, pelvic surgery, and high-risk obstetrics. She is dedicated to providing thoughtful, individualized care tailored to each patient’s needs.
Beyond her clinical work, Dr. Scherer is deeply engaged in the community through volunteer efforts with the Community Care Medical Clinic, March of Dimes, and Ronald McDonald House and has held numerous leadership positions in local and regional medical organizations. Outside the office, she enjoys traveling, cooking, sewing, and spending time with her husband and two daughters.
