Cassandra Elder

Cassandra Elder, CNM, joined Triangle Physicians for Women in September 2025. She is a certified nurse midwife who earned her Master of Science in Nursing from East Carolina University in 2017. With more than 20 years of experience in women’s health, Cassandra has worked in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Before becoming a midwife, she spent 14 years as a labor and delivery nurse at Duke Hospital and began her career in a small community hospital.

Cassandra has special interests in supporting women who desire a trial of labor after previous cesarean, optimizing natural fertility, and guiding women with pregnancy complications to feel confident and informed in their decision-making. Her philosophy of care is inspired by physician Neel Shah, MD, of Harvard Medical School: “Women have more goals for their labor and birth experience than just surviving it.” She carries this belief into every encounter, providing compassionate, respectful, and individualized care.

Outside of her professional role, Cassandra enjoys a full and active life. She is married, the mother of three children, and a proud grandmother to Harrison Gregory, with another grandchild on the way. A lifelong animal lover, she shares her home with four dogs. Cassandra has recently discovered a passion for CrossFit and also enjoys skiing and relaxing at the beach—her favorite place to unwind. She is active in her church community and values time spent with family, friends, and loved ones.
